The exploits of various guests and staff at a luxury resort over the course of a week… Although HBO originally conceived the series as a one-season miniseries, the series has been renewed for a second season. The show is rumored to be an anthology series with new characters for each season. HBO has done this before (to wide acclaim) with True Detective (2014). Featured on Jeremy Vine: Episode #4.175 (2021). While some of the first season was a bit scary, this second season is as great as anyone could hope for. It starts off a bit slow, the first episode, but it quickly finds its feet and keeps me hooked, even though I’m not experienced enough. It feels like a review of every thought I’ve had about a resort I’ve long forgotten. It’s a pure treat, but don’t worry, it goes beyond flirting with the heights of operatic drama and beauty, something that’s quite appropriate given its setting in Sicily. Given the excellence of the acting and the ease of the story, I’d say Mike White, the series’ creator, is some unrivaled genius. The man seems to know no bounds, coupled with the sharpest eye for detail I’ve ever seen.
